Our Statement of Purpose
At The Weight Care Clinic, our purpose is to provide safe, effective, and medically supervised weight-management care, led by qualified doctors and designed around you.
We support adults who want to lose weight safely and sustainably using evidence-based medical care, not pharmacy-only prescribing or DIY programmes. Our approach focuses on long-term health, wellbeing, and ongoing support — not quick fixes.
What We Do
We provide personalised medical weight-management plans that may include:
- Lifestyle and dietary guidance
- Exercise advice
- Prescription weight-loss medications such as Orlistat and GLP-1 treatments (including semaglutide and tirzepatide), where clinically appropriate
- Ongoing monitoring and support, including help with side effects
Every treatment plan is created and reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor, following a full medical assessment and informed consent.
Doctor-Led Care
The clinic is founded by Dr Nadia Ahmad, a GMC-registered doctor with a background in biomedical and chemical sciences.
Clinical leadership is supported by Dr Talha Malik, our Clinical Lead, who is also a GMC-registered GP.
All consultations and prescribing decisions are carried out by GMC-registered doctors, ensuring treatment is clinically appropriate, evidence-based, and delivered to the highest professional standards.
All consultations are carried out remotely via secure video calls. Prescribing decisions are made by doctors only, based on your medical history, current health, and individual goals.
We use a secure, encrypted electronic medical record system to:
- Store medical notes
- Order blood tests
- Issue electronic prescriptions
Your data is handled confidentially and in line with UK healthcare standards.
How It Works
- Medical Questionnaire
Before your first consultation, you’ll complete a detailed online medical questionnaire. This helps us understand your health fully and safely. It includes:
- Your medical and mental health history
- Current and past medications
- Family history
- Height and weight
- Your GP details
- Consent for assessment and treatment
- Identity & Safety Checks
To ensure safe prescribing, we verify your identity using a valid passport or photo ID.
You’ll also need baseline health measurements, including:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Weight and height
These can be taken at a local pharmacy, at home (if you have suitable equipment), or with your consent we can liaise with your GP.
- Doctor Consultation
You’ll be assessed by a GMC-registered doctor via video consultation. During this appointment we will:
- Review your medical history in detail
- Confirm eligibility and safety
- Discuss treatment options, benefits, and risks
- Agree a personalised treatment plan with you
If treatment is appropriate, prescribing will only happen after this consultation.
- Treatment & Ongoing Support
Once treatment begins:
- You’ll be reviewed depending on your subscription package
- Some plans include 6 weekly, monthly, bi-weekly or more frequent reviews
- At each review, we monitor your progress and safety
Dose changes are only made following a doctor review.
All consultations and outcomes are recorded securely in your medical record.
- Blood Tests (Elite Plans)
Patients on our Elite plans receive 6-monthly blood tests to support safe long-term treatment.
These are provided through an accredited laboratory, with:
- Home blood-testing kits, or
- The option to attend a testing centre if preferred
Results are reviewed by a doctor and discussed with you.
Prescriptions & Medication Delivery
All prescriptions are issued electronically by our doctors and sent to a GPhC-registered UK pharmacy.
The pharmacy:
- Dispenses your medication
- Delivers it directly to your door
Working With Your GP
If you start injectable weight-loss medication, we inform your GP (with your consent). This helps ensure safe, joined-up care.
Your GP letter includes:
- Medication details and dose plan
- Why it’s been prescribed
- Monitoring arrangements
- Side effects discussed
- Whether any GP action is needed
Our Commitment to You
- Doctor-led care at every stage
- No pharmacy-only prescribing
- Regular follow-up and monitoring
- Clear communication and informed consent
- Safe, ethical, and evidence-based treatment
You’re not just receiving medication — you’re receiving medical care.
Doctor-led. CQC-registered. Fully medically supervised weight-loss care.
